SLC39A2 and FSIP1 polymorphisms as potential modifiers of arsenic-related bladder cancer
AssociationN=2,023Karagas MR et al.(2012)· Human Genetics

This case-control study of arsenic exposure and bladder cancer identified SNPs in FSIP1 (rs10152640, OR=12.20 for GG genotype in high arsenic group) and SLC39A2 (rs2234636, OR=2.96 for TC and 2.91 for CC genotypes) as potential genetic modifiers of arsenic-related bladder cancer risk in a US population with low to moderate drinking water arsenic exposure. Both associations were specific to high arsenic-exposed individuals and smokers, with significant gene-environment interactions.

About FSIP1

Predicted to act upstream of or within several processes, including axoneme assembly; homeostasis of number of cells within a tissue; and vesicle organization. Predicted to be active in acrosomal vesicle; nucleus; and sperm head. [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Jul 2025]
