This non-replication study failed to confirm a genome-wide association between two AHI1 polymorphisms (rs1535435 and rs9494266) and type 2 diabetes in 9,154 Danish participants and a meta-analysis of >16,300 individuals. The original study reported strong associations (OR 2.3), but this replication found no significant association (OR 1.0 and 1.1, both p>0.4), suggesting the original findings may have been false positives or population-specific effects.
