Genetic association analysis of LARS2 with type 2 diabetes
AssociationN=35,715Reiling E. et al.(2010)· Diabetologia

Large-scale genetic association study testing the LARS2 gene (mitochondrial leucyl-tRNA synthetase) for type 2 diabetes susceptibility in 35,715 European-descent participants. The authors failed to replicate the previously reported association of the H324Q variant (rs71645922) with type 2 diabetes (OR 0.99, p=0.78) and found no association with common LARS2 variants, concluding that LARS2 does not play a significant role in type 2 diabetes susceptibility.

Traits studied:Type 2 diabetes

About LARS2

This gene encodes a class 1 aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase, mitochondrial leucyl-tRNA synthetase. Each of the twenty aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyzes the aminoacylation of a specific tRNA or tRNA isoaccepting family with the cognate amino acid. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
