The C allele at rs2145418 on chromosome 1p12 was significantly associated with thyroid cancer risk in a Spanish case-control study. Heterozygous carriers had an OR of 5.0 (95% CI 2.85-8.83), while homozygous carriers had an OR of 9.2 (95% CI 4.50-21.6), suggesting a dose-dependent effect. This locus maps between the SPAG17 and TBX15 genes.
